This was by far the most expensive hotel we used on our tour of Japan, but the only one with half-board included, which was much appreciated - looking for restaurants nearby would have been a challenge around the steep streets, especially for people of our age. To our delight, the evening meals were 5-course affairs, a mixture of Japanese and European dishes (e.g. onion soup!), different on each of the two nights, with a good selection of reasonably priced drinks. Breakfast was a buffet, again with a mixture of Japanese and other foods. The staff were brilliant and very helpful, especially with handling our baggage. There is a courtesy shuttle to and from the station at Gora that you can use each day (though you need to book the time in advance), and this gives easy access to the Hakone cable car and ropeway.

Quaint and quiet place to stay in Hakone. To those worried about location and getting to the hotel, it is not a big deal. From Gora station you can either hop in a cab (~600yen), take the cable car to Naka-Gora and walk to the hotel (~8mins, downhill), or if you have cell service you can call the hotel from the shuttle area. If you're a masochist you can also walk UP to the hotel (~15-20mins). Once you check-in, the hotel has a daily shuttle you can book to and from Gora station for the start and end of everyday. All-in-all they were very accommodating.

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, nice location in the nature and modern and spacey rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we could use the Onsen bath free of charge. There were slippers and Yukata bath robes to rent for free, we felt it is a very traditional place and definitely was a unique and relaxing experience. Tje reception provides a free ride to and from Gora station that you can sign up for a day in advance.

We loved the size of our room, the balcony overlooking a treed area and the private onsen bath on the balcony. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I like that we were provided yukatas. I appreciated that they allowed us to leave our luggage before check-in and that they provided a shuttle in the morning to take us back to the main train station.

The food was some of the best food I have ever had. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I could eat there every day. Also, the staff were all so kind and accommodating. The whole place was beautiful to explore and the room was oh so cozy. The bed was the most comfortable bed I stayed in through my whole time in Japan.
